Well, this is my first blog. Don't know what this is all about. Heard about it a lot. Then created an account to learn about it. To learn to use it. Today, I would like to write about the differences between PSLV and GSLV that I've come to know a long time ago through "The Hindu" newspaper.
This differences mentioned here are purely from recollecting my memory and I'm not sure about their verities.
PSLV stands for polar satellite launch vehicle and GSLV for Geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle. These two are indigenous launch vehicles developed by ISRO, (Indian Space Research Organisation), Banglore. These are used to launch satellites.
PSLV is used to launch remote sensing satellites that orbit around the Earth. It is required that remote sensing satellites are to be launched at a specific height from the Earth to orbit around the Earth and these orbits are low earth orbits. PSLV launches them into these sun-synchronous low eath orbits. The satellites orbit round the earth from pole to pole. These are called sun synchronous because the angle between the line joining the center of the Earth and the satellite and the Sun is constant throughout the orbit.
GSLV is used to launch communication satellites. They launch them into orbits much farther from the Earth. These being geosynchronous, appear to be fixed from a particular location on the Earth.
